Clearasil Ultra Blemish + Mask Review

Hey huns,

So sorry that this post is a week late. Ive had been having exams, so i was preparing for them and therefore decided to skip a week of posting to prepare and revise.

Anyways, this week i am reviewing Clearasil Ultra Blemish + Mask Review. I bought this as it was a new product in my local superdrug and as i have used other Clearasil prodcuts, i was excited to try it out.

I sometimes get a few spots and i bought this product because it was for spots and contained good ingredients like lactic acid, which is great for spots. I also bought this cause its a two in one and i thought it would be super convenient.

I was really disappointed by this product. I dont think its done anything special for my skin. Ive used it as a mask and as a face wash several times throughout a few weeks and i have seen no difference. My face doesnt feel refreshed after using it. I personally dont like using it as a mask as its quite messy because it doesnt seem to dry out like other mask and its too watery so it ends up everywhere. Some other reviewers have even said that this product actually gives them more spots than reducing. Thankfully, this is not the case for me, but i have been using two different face wash, as per my usual face wash regime.

Truthfully, the only good thing about this product is that it smelled nice. Other than that, this did absolutely nothing for my face.

Would I repurchase? this is going to be a no for me, but i do like other Clearasil products.

Hope you have found this review useful!

Maybelline – The Rocket Volume Express VS The Falsies Black Drama mascara

Hey all,

im back this week to review my top two favorite mascaras. If you know me, you will know that im in love with Maybelline’s mascara and

Lets start with the mascara I absolutely love right now, the Rocket Volume Express mascara.

Image

When this mascara was released, all beauty blogs and youtube gurus were raving about it. However, i wasnt sure if i would like it as much, due to its thicker wand and i prefer the thinner wands, such as the Falsie’s.

Image

I went to boots and they had this mascara in waterproof or normal, so i bought the waterproof one.

My first impressions on it was that it was wetter than maybellines other mascaras, such as their Falsies. After one coat, it goes on really heavy and i feel that it doesn’t separate my lashes and clumps it together. However, i understand that this is how to achieve volume on your lashes. But i do wish it wasn’t so wet, cause i have to wait a while for it to dry, otherwise i will get speckles of mascara on my cheeks after blinking. However, after using it for a few weeks, it has become less watery and applies on more smoothly than before.  This mascara gives great length and volume. It stays on nicely throughout the day, without leaving you with “panda” eyes. With a great staying power like this mascara, when night comes, it is relatively harder to remove than the Falsies mascara.

The Falsie Black Drama mascara was one of my favourite mascara, before the Rocket Volume Express mascara was released.

Image

When i first used this mascara, it was rather wet as well and i was also not accustomed to the brush. However, there are instructions on how to best use this brush on the back of the mascara tube as well as on the back of the packaging. Once ive gotten the hang of it, and once it became less wet, I grew to love this mascara.

Image

It kept my lashes curled throughtout the day and gave me very black and dramatic eyelashes. However, i found that it sometimes smudged a little onto my cheeks. I also thought that it gave less volume compared to the Rocket Volume Express mascara. It was also relatively easier to remove at the end of the day, compared to the other mascara.

Would i repurchase these mascara?

Yes, being a loyal fan of Maybelline’s mascara, im always trying out all of their mascara and i really like these two mascaras as well. Will definitely buy these again, unless Maybelline launches another new mascara.

Hope you have found this review useful!

Maybelline Fit me Concealer Review

Hey all,

A few days ago, i went on a drugstore hunt looking to replace the concealer i was using as it was running out. Lucky me, i went to Boots on the same day they had their big sale and most Maybelline products were on sale. As you may or may not know, Maybelline is one of my favourite drug store brand, so i bought a few items. One of the item is the Maybelline Fit me Concealer.

If you remember from a few posts back, when Maybelline first released their new Fit me foundation, I wrote a review on that. (You can check that out here) As i have already tried the Fit me foundation and liked it, i thought to myself, why not try the Concealer as well?

ImageSo this is what the packaging looks like. It is very similar the to Fit me foundation bottles. Simple and easy to caring around with.

ImageI got the concealer in shade 15, which is one of the lightest shades they had.

There was a good range of shades from dark to light, which i think will suit most peoples skin tones. There was even a guide on buying the right concealer right next to these products, which can be really helpful when youre not as good at picking out shades or just unsure of which shade will suite you.

ImageAs per normal concealers, it comes with a brush/applicator. The applicator scoops up a good amount of concealer. However sometimes it may be too much. I also find that with these applicators, they dont reach the bottom of the tube, so when there is little product left, its hard to scrape out the tiny bit thats left on the bottom. It annoys me when the brush doesnt reach the bottom and i have no other ways to get it out, and its a waste to throw it away while there is still some product left in the tube.

ImageImage

This concealer is very blendable and does not feel cakey or heavy. It has a light to medium coverage, so i tend to build it up more if i need it. However, sometimes i feel that this concealer is a little too watery for my liking. So to deal with that, i prime my face, then il let it sit on my under eye area for a few seconds before blending it out and applying foundation. I find that applying it this way helps with getting more coverage. It is a little time consuming though, but i just take that time to do other stuff, like reading other blogs or updating my tumblr.

Will i buy it again?

Yes, since im currently using the Fit me foundation, i think this concealer is a perfect match for it. I also like the range of shade they have in store and will definitely be buying some of their other shades for blending etc.

Hope you have found this review useful!

Have/do you use the Fit me concealer or foundation from Maybelline? What is your favourite concealer brand at the moment??

EcoTools Brushes Review – Buffing Brush & Angled Eyeliner Brush

Hey dolls,

so ive been debating with myself about the best way to apply makeup. After careful consideration and research, a few weeks ago, i finally caved and bought a brand new set of make-up brushes.

What brand did I end up buying? Well, i was walking around the store wondering which brand would be the best, while taking into consideration of the quality and prices.

The one brand which caught my eye was EcoTools. (I purchased mine at Boots)

Image

One of the first things that drew me to this brand was the fact that EcoTools are all about being green and helping the environment. EcoTools is a member of 1% For The Planet, which is a group of businesses who support environmental initiatives. Not only does EcoTools  donate 1% of their annual revenue to environmental causes, their products are also 100% cruelty free, using natural elements to stay as green as possible. Their cosmetic brushes are made from sleek bamboo, recycled aluminium and synthetic taklon bristle.

If you know me, you would know that Im all about protecting the environment and I absolutely love companies that give back to the environment/society.

The packages that the brushes come in are simple and super convenient as they come in little resealable pouches, the back of the pouch has instructions on how to use the brush and they even have a “Green Tip” on the back of each.

I thought I would start my brush collection with my two most used brushes:

Buffing Brush

I bought this brush because I wanted a buffing brush to blend my concealer and foundation. One of the good things about this brush is that it blends out any harsh lines perfectly without blending it out too much and loosing the desired coverage, leaving the skin looking natural.  I find the bristles very soft and dense, which is perfect for distributing my foundation or bb cream evenly without any streaking. Size wise, i find that its just the right size thus allowing easy control and application.

Angled Eyeliner Brush

Before using this Eyeliner brush, i was using a Maybelline eyeliner brush. I find that with the Maybelline, it was difficult to draw thin lines as the brush was too thick. After switching to this bamboo angled eyeliner brush by EcoTools, i found that it is just perfect for applying eyeliner. As the bristles are extremely soft, it makes the process of applying eyeliner smoother. The bristles are also very define, allowing the user to have absolute control over the brush, thus better control over the thickness of the lines, and build up if necessary.

Ive washed both brushes several times and the bristles in both brushes have stayed in place, there was no dividing that you may get with other brushes and theres is no shedding at all! It always dries smoothly and quickly.

Overall, I LOVED my two brushes and will definitely be getting more of their brushes. Not only do they help with the environment, they also have nice packaging with very useful and beautiful brushes.

Hope you have found this review useful!

Johnson’s Daily Essentials Gentle Eye Make-Up Remover VS Boots Essentials Cucumber Eye Make Up Remover Gel

Hey darlings,

This week i will be doing a product comparison and also reviewing each product.

The first product i will talk about is Boots Essential Cucumber Eye Make-up remover. This product retails at Boots for £1.50.

Image

When i saw this product on sale in Boots, I was unsure if i would try it as I’ve never used a gel make-up remover before. But since it was on a special 2 for 1 discount, i decided to try it out. I mean what is the worst that can happen, right?

To my surprised, I actually liked this product more than i thought i would. There is little to no smell (for those of you who are particular about your eye make-up remover scent), and as it is in gel form, i found that it gave a refreshing feeling after using it. It was also very effective in removing my water-proof mascara. However, I did find that one squeeze was often not enough and that i would need another cotton pad and another pump of this gel remover to fully remove all traces of my mascara. Also, this product seems to get in my eyes more often than the Johnson’s Daily Essentials Make-up remover, thus slightly irritating my eyes.

The second product is Johnson’s Daily Essentials Gentle Eye Make-up Remover. I purchased this product at Boots for £3.29.

 Image

This eye make-up remover is bi-phase, so it will require shaking before use to blend the upper and lower liquid together.

I slightly prefer this to the Boots Essential Cucumber Eye Make-up remover (above) because when compared to the Boots Eye make-up remover, you need less product to get rid of the same amount of water-proof mascara. This Johnson’s eye make-up remover is also meant to condition your lashes and it is also gentle to the skin around your eyes, so if you have sensitive skin, this eye make-up remover will not irritate your skin. You simply have to put some of the product onto a cotton pad and place it over your eye for several seconds and your mascara will just melt away. I really have no negative comments on this product.

Comparing the both products together, I personally prefer the Johnson’s Eye make-up remover to the Boots, because it is more effective in doing its job. Also, price wise, the Boots eye make-up remover is definitely cheaper. But bearing in mind that you will probably need to use more product with the Boots eye make-up remover than with the Johnson’s eye make-up remover, that in the long run, it might actually be more wise to purchase the Johnson’s eye make-up remover.

I would definitely re-purchase the Johnson’s Eye make-up remover as I’ve enjoyed using it and it will get my vote for favourite make-up remover of the week.

Hope you have found this review useful!! What eye make-up removers do you guys use? Which would you recommend to me?

Nivea Regenerating Night Cream

Hello lovelies,

i’m back with another moisturiser review. Today i shall be reviewing Nivea Regenerating Night Cream. This product was recommended to me by a sales assistant working in Nivea’s concession in a Boots store.

Image

This product can be bought in Boots and Superdrug (both at £4.35).

During the winter seasons, my skin can get very dry. This night cream helps me deal with the dry areas of my face without leaving my skin feeling too oily.  Even though it says night cream, it can be used in the morning as well. I use this once in the morning with in my foundation routine whenever my skin feels a little dehydrated, and another time in the evening after I’ve removed my makeup.

After applying this night cream to my face, your skin instantly feels refreshed and there is a slight shine to the face, giving the face a healthy glow.

The price of this might be a little steep for a student, however superdrug and boots often have major sales and this item is often reduced to around £2/3 ( this depends on the sales) which is a extremely good deal.

Would I buy this product again? Definitely! Ive been using this for almost half a year now and i really love the effect of it.  I will recommend it to my friends, neighbours and even random strangers on the street!

Hope you found this review useful!
