Clearasil Ultra Blemish + Mask Review

Hey huns,

So sorry that this post is a week late. Ive had been having exams, so i was preparing for them and therefore decided to skip a week of posting to prepare and revise.

Anyways, this week i am reviewing Clearasil Ultra Blemish + Mask Review. I bought this as it was a new product in my local superdrug and as i have used other Clearasil prodcuts, i was excited to try it out.

I sometimes get a few spots and i bought this product because it was for spots and contained good ingredients like lactic acid, which is great for spots. I also bought this cause its a two in one and i thought it would be super convenient.

I was really disappointed by this product. I dont think its done anything special for my skin. Ive used it as a mask and as a face wash several times throughout a few weeks and i have seen no difference. My face doesnt feel refreshed after using it. I personally dont like using it as a mask as its quite messy because it doesnt seem to dry out like other mask and its too watery so it ends up everywhere. Some other reviewers have even said that this product actually gives them more spots than reducing. Thankfully, this is not the case for me, but i have been using two different face wash, as per my usual face wash regime.

Truthfully, the only good thing about this product is that it smelled nice. Other than that, this did absolutely nothing for my face.

Would I repurchase? this is going to be a no for me, but i do like other Clearasil products.

Hope you have found this review useful!

Maybelline – The Rocket Volume Express VS The Falsies Black Drama mascara

Hey all,

im back this week to review my top two favorite mascaras. If you know me, you will know that im in love with Maybelline’s mascara and

Lets start with the mascara I absolutely love right now, the Rocket Volume Express mascara.

Image

When this mascara was released, all beauty blogs and youtube gurus were raving about it. However, i wasnt sure if i would like it as much, due to its thicker wand and i prefer the thinner wands, such as the Falsie’s.

Image

I went to boots and they had this mascara in waterproof or normal, so i bought the waterproof one.

My first impressions on it was that it was wetter than maybellines other mascaras, such as their Falsies. After one coat, it goes on really heavy and i feel that it doesn’t separate my lashes and clumps it together. However, i understand that this is how to achieve volume on your lashes. But i do wish it wasn’t so wet, cause i have to wait a while for it to dry, otherwise i will get speckles of mascara on my cheeks after blinking. However, after using it for a few weeks, it has become less watery and applies on more smoothly than before.  This mascara gives great length and volume. It stays on nicely throughout the day, without leaving you with “panda” eyes. With a great staying power like this mascara, when night comes, it is relatively harder to remove than the Falsies mascara.

The Falsie Black Drama mascara was one of my favourite mascara, before the Rocket Volume Express mascara was released.

Image

When i first used this mascara, it was rather wet as well and i was also not accustomed to the brush. However, there are instructions on how to best use this brush on the back of the mascara tube as well as on the back of the packaging. Once ive gotten the hang of it, and once it became less wet, I grew to love this mascara.

Image

It kept my lashes curled throughtout the day and gave me very black and dramatic eyelashes. However, i found that it sometimes smudged a little onto my cheeks. I also thought that it gave less volume compared to the Rocket Volume Express mascara. It was also relatively easier to remove at the end of the day, compared to the other mascara.

Would i repurchase these mascara?

Yes, being a loyal fan of Maybelline’s mascara, im always trying out all of their mascara and i really like these two mascaras as well. Will definitely buy these again, unless Maybelline launches another new mascara.

Hope you have found this review useful!

Bourjois Délice De Poudre Bronzing Powder

Hey all,

Firstly, i want to say my heart goes out to all those affected by the 2 explosions in Boston yesterday and the Earthquake in India and Iran. I will be keeping everyone affected in my mind.

This week i shall be reviewing Bourjois Délice de poundre bronzing powder. There was a lot of hype for this bronzer so I decided to try it out. I bought this bronzer at Superdrug for £6.99, which is an alright price.

2013-04-16 23.23.21

My favourite thing about this bronzing powder is the packaging. It comes in a little cute cardboard book-like packaging which has a magnetic close, making it thin and convenient for travelling. I have this bronzer in the ’52’ shade. However, one down side of this packaging is that most of it is in French, so I have no idea if i have the paler or darker one.

Image

Inside, there is a good amount of the bronzer. The bronzer is in the style of a chocolate bar and it smells just like chocolate.

The color is not orangey at all and it makes your face looks nice and goldeny brown as there are specks of glitter in it, but dont worry, if youre not a fan of glitter because it is not obvious once applied onto your face. I personally find that this bronzer is too dark for my skin during the winter, however in the summer it is just perfect.

2013-04-16 23.24.36

2013-04-16 23.25.19

The product is perfect for contouring and if you have darker skin, it might take quite a lot of building in order to actually see the product on my skin. Even though on somedays, i think this shade is a little too dark for my skin, it is perfect for contouring and gives me a nice healthy glow without being too obvious. It also blends perfectly with whatever blusher Im using.

Will i buy it again?

I really enjoy using this bronzer because it is one of the best drugstore bronzers I have bought, I might even go as far as to say it is better than some of the high end bronzers I have used in the past. I would recommend and buy again.

Hope you have found this review useful!

Have/do you use the this bronzer?? Is there any other good drug store bronzer to recommend to me?

EcoTools Brushes Review – Buffing Brush & Angled Eyeliner Brush

Hey dolls,

so ive been debating with myself about the best way to apply makeup. After careful consideration and research, a few weeks ago, i finally caved and bought a brand new set of make-up brushes.

What brand did I end up buying? Well, i was walking around the store wondering which brand would be the best, while taking into consideration of the quality and prices.

The one brand which caught my eye was EcoTools. (I purchased mine at Boots)

Image

One of the first things that drew me to this brand was the fact that EcoTools are all about being green and helping the environment. EcoTools is a member of 1% For The Planet, which is a group of businesses who support environmental initiatives. Not only does EcoTools  donate 1% of their annual revenue to environmental causes, their products are also 100% cruelty free, using natural elements to stay as green as possible. Their cosmetic brushes are made from sleek bamboo, recycled aluminium and synthetic taklon bristle.

If you know me, you would know that Im all about protecting the environment and I absolutely love companies that give back to the environment/society.

The packages that the brushes come in are simple and super convenient as they come in little resealable pouches, the back of the pouch has instructions on how to use the brush and they even have a “Green Tip” on the back of each.

I thought I would start my brush collection with my two most used brushes:

Buffing Brush

I bought this brush because I wanted a buffing brush to blend my concealer and foundation. One of the good things about this brush is that it blends out any harsh lines perfectly without blending it out too much and loosing the desired coverage, leaving the skin looking natural.  I find the bristles very soft and dense, which is perfect for distributing my foundation or bb cream evenly without any streaking. Size wise, i find that its just the right size thus allowing easy control and application.

Angled Eyeliner Brush

Before using this Eyeliner brush, i was using a Maybelline eyeliner brush. I find that with the Maybelline, it was difficult to draw thin lines as the brush was too thick. After switching to this bamboo angled eyeliner brush by EcoTools, i found that it is just perfect for applying eyeliner. As the bristles are extremely soft, it makes the process of applying eyeliner smoother. The bristles are also very define, allowing the user to have absolute control over the brush, thus better control over the thickness of the lines, and build up if necessary.

Ive washed both brushes several times and the bristles in both brushes have stayed in place, there was no dividing that you may get with other brushes and theres is no shedding at all! It always dries smoothly and quickly.

Overall, I LOVED my two brushes and will definitely be getting more of their brushes. Not only do they help with the environment, they also have nice packaging with very useful and beautiful brushes.

Hope you have found this review useful!

What make-up brushes do you guys use?

Superdrug TEA TREE Range Face Wash Review

Hey lovelies,

im back again with another review. This week, i will be talking about Superdrug’s Tea Tree Facial Wash and Superdrug’s Tea Tree Exfoliating Cream Wash.

ImageThe Superdrug Tea Tree Facial wash is available at Superdrug for £1.98.

ImageThe Superdrug Tea Tree Exfoliating Cream wash is also available at Superdrug for £3.30.

I first heard about Tea Tree when i was shopping at The Body Shop. As its well know that Tea Trea is good for handling breakouts and I have oily/combination skin, with the occasional pimple. Therefore i decided to try out this pair of Superdrug’s Tea Tree face care.

I use these 2 products together, as I believe that using an exfoliating cream wash on your face too often will dry out your skin. Therefore I alternate between these 2 products. As I use these products together, it is difficult for me to compare them. However I shall try to review them by giving you the pros and cons for each product.

Firstly, I shall review the Facial wash. This facial wash has managed to clear my skin and prevent any breakouts. It is also soft on the skin, thus not leaving the skin too dry and giving your skin a beautiful glow. Not only is this product good for your skin, it is also fairly cheaper than other products containing Tea Tree oils.

As for the Exfoliating cream wash, I use this relatively less often than the Facial wash as it is rougher on the skin. However, every time after Ive washed my face with this cream wash, my face feels refreshed and squeaky clean. You can definitely feel the walnut grains against your skin which slightly massages your face every time you wash it. Although I really love this face wash, as Ive mentioned above, this product is probably not suitable for people with sensitive skin.

Would I buy this product again?? Overall, I would definitely recommend this product to friends. Ive repeatedly purchased this products for a few months and will continue. As a first year university student, I enjoy saving as much money as possible. Therefore, the affordable prices of these products suites my life as well as these products are good for my skin.

Hope you found this review useful!! Have you guys tried these products before? What are your views on these products?

Much Love,

Nivea Regenerating Night Cream

Hello lovelies,

i’m back with another moisturiser review. Today i shall be reviewing Nivea Regenerating Night Cream. This product was recommended to me by a sales assistant working in Nivea’s concession in a Boots store.

Image

This product can be bought in Boots and Superdrug (both at £4.35).

During the winter seasons, my skin can get very dry. This night cream helps me deal with the dry areas of my face without leaving my skin feeling too oily.  Even though it says night cream, it can be used in the morning as well. I use this once in the morning with in my foundation routine whenever my skin feels a little dehydrated, and another time in the evening after I’ve removed my makeup.

After applying this night cream to my face, your skin instantly feels refreshed and there is a slight shine to the face, giving the face a healthy glow.

The price of this might be a little steep for a student, however superdrug and boots often have major sales and this item is often reduced to around £2/3 ( this depends on the sales) which is a extremely good deal.

Would I buy this product again? Definitely! Ive been using this for almost half a year now and i really love the effect of it.  I will recommend it to my friends, neighbours and even random strangers on the street!

Hope you found this review useful!

Maybelline NEW Fit Me Foundation

Hey darlings,

Sorry for the lack of posts, ive been busy with assignments and studying for tests. So im back with a new liquid foundation review. I was sent this foundation by Maybelline a few days ago and I’ve been looking forward to trying it as Maybelline has always been my favourite makeup brand. So i hope you find this review useful.

As mentioned above, the foundation reviewed in this post is :

  1. Maybelline Fit Me FoundationImage

The following are taken from Maybelline (2013) website about this foundation.

PRODUCT DETAILS

WHY YOU’LL LOVE IT

The secret of Fit Me Foundation? Some waxes and fillers can mask your skin colour, Fit Me Foundation has none. Its transluscent gel based formula merges seamlessly with your skin.
Fit Me Foundation, Concealer and Powder are made to fit together by shade numbers, so finding your shade couldn’t be easier. Looks natural, feels so light. SPF 18.
According to the website, this foundation is meant to unify the skin tone while hiding imperfections and giving you a natural, non-cakey look. So, does this foundation does what its advertised to do?
This foundation was really easy to apply and gives the skin a dewy, natural look. However, I personally think this foundation is a little too liquid, thus giving my face a not as matt as i like look.
The coverage for this foundation is medium, again this gives you a more natural look. However more coverage can be built up when applying more foundation to areas that you want more coverage. This foundation blends well into the skin and is very long wearing. It also has a great color range, so it will suite whatever skin color. At £7.99, this foundation is affordable and good for daily wear.
Would i buy this foundation again?  Maybe. I personally prefer a more matt finish foundation, however if you like a satiny finish this is the foundation for you.
I hope youve found this review useful :)
Have a good week and i shall be posting reviews every monday, so see you next monday!
Love, Nicole xx
